Oumou Sangare, the greatest living female voice in African music, presents Mogoya (meaning 'people today') on a new record label with a fresh production team and amazing new songs. Her powerful voice and impactful message are as strong as ever. While rooted in Malian tradition, Mogoya offers a bold new sound. Co - produced by Andreas Unge in Stockholm and the French collective A.l.b.e.r.t. in Paris (who've worked with Air, Tony Allen, etc.), it combines rich musical heritage with a forward - looking approach. On the album, traditional African instruments like the kamele n'goni, karignan, and calabash percussion are enhanced by electric guitar, bass, keyboards, synths, and Tony Allen on drums.
