Released in 1975, Hokey Pokey is Richard and Linda's second LP from 1974. It's a much more cheerful release than its predecessor, I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight. Richard envisioned Hokey Pokey as a music - hall influenced record, being a big fan of Harry Lauder and Gracie Fields. This influence shows in the Victorian - style cover by Shirt Sleeve Studio and is heard in tracks like “Hokey Pokey” and “Georgie On A Spree”. This album mixes darkly comic songs such as “Smiffy’s Glass Eye” with world - weary tunes like “I’ll Regret It All In The Morning” and “A Heart Needs A Home”.
