The album showcases the Paris - meets - New York backgrounds of its leaders, vocalist Miz Elizabeth and bandleader/pianist Evan Bibs Palazzo. French Fries represents the dual nature of The Hot Sardines. On one hand, they're a lively, down - to - earth R&B and hot jazz band, enjoying the simple joys of fried food and classic '40s and '50s American South tunes. On the other hand, they're elegant lovers of lush orchestral ballads about love, loss, and loneliness. The tracks range from 'Running Wild' from the 1959 Billy Wilder classic Some Like It Hot to 'People Will Say We're In Love' from the 1943 Broadway hit Oklahoma!. There's also a jazzy take on the 1985 pop hit 'Addicted To Love' made famous by Robert Palmer.
