Description

Regarded as Tom Waits’ most critically acclaimed album, Rain Dogs continues the new musical direction he started with Swordfishtrombones. It's part of an unofficial trilogy with Swordfishtrombones and Franks Wild Years, and it was the first album Waits wrote in a Lower Manhattan basement in New York. This 53 - minute, 19 - track masterpiece is like a mutant, late 20th - century musical 'Canterbury Tales' with a versatile band. You'll hear banjos, marimbas, bowed saws, parade drums, and howling horns, with contributions from Keith Richards and Marc Ribot. Waits uses his voice in increasingly wild ways. The songs are a mix of stories, sagas, laments, and more. There are hits like the aching 'Hang Down Your Head' and the moving 'Downtown Train', covered by Patti Smith and Rod Stewart. Waits came up with the term 'Rain Dog', referring to dogs lost when scents are washed away in storms. The album features various lost characters. Originally released in 1985 on Island Records, it's newly remastered from the original ½” flat master tape, personally overseen by Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan. Mastered by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering under the guidance of Waits’ longtime audio engineer, Karl Derfler. The album packaging is also restored. It includes tracks like 'Downtown Train', 'Clap Hands', and 'Jockey Full Of Bourbon'. It's available on an exclusive limited edition 180g opaque sky - blue vinyl.

To use this Rain Dogs vinyl album, just place it on a record player. Make sure the record player is clean and in good working condition. When handling the vinyl, hold it by the edges to avoid fingerprints on the playing surface. After each use, put the album back in its sleeve to protect it from dust. Store the album in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Don't stack heavy objects on top of it. If the vinyl gets dirty, you can use a record cleaning brush to gently remove dust. This way, you can enjoy the unique music of Tom Waits for a long time.
