It won a Grammy in 1997 and sold over 8 million copies, outselling other records in its genre. The album made stars of artists like Ibrahim Ferrer, Rubén González, and Omara Portuondo, inspired an award - winning film by Wim Wenders, and popularized Cuba's rich musical heritage. Produced by Ry Cooder for World Circuit, it's a landmark recording of the 20th century. For this anniversary, Ry Cooder and Nick Gold revisited the original tapes and archives to create this deluxe remaster with unseen photos, new liner notes, and unheard tracks from the 1996 sessions.
