Lindstrøm says he felt completely unrestrained making his 6th solo album, On a Clear Day I Can See You Forever. The title is inspired by the 1970s musical starring Barbra Streisand. He was influenced by Robert Wyatt's work, finding it effortless, fearless, and free. In 2018, sketches from his commissioned piece at Norway's Henie Onstad Kunstsenter became the basis for new tracks. He kept initial ideas and developed them from long one - take recordings. He was careful to fit the music within the vinyl - format's limits, with 2 long tracks on each side for a perfect balance. This is his first album made entirely with hardware, using over thirty synthesizers and drum - machines. The joy of using physical devices inspired him. The title track is a 10 - minute Moog Memorymoog improvisation, kept unedited. Other tracks were pre - written and arranged, then recorded mostly in one take. Lindstrøm has been inspired by classical music, revisiting his childhood. Making this album, he learned about both music and himself.
