Description

This amazing album was produced for Societe Radio - Canada. It was recorded live on June 30, 1989, the opening night of the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal in Quebec, Canada. What makes this session truly special is that bassist Haden is in a trio with drummer Al Foster, fresh from Miles Davis' band, and the legendary tenor saxophonist Joe Henderson. Haden has subtitled the set 'Tribute to Joe Henderson'. The album features four extended tunes. The shortest one, the opener, is a beautiful, open - ended rendition of Thelonious Monk's 'Round Midnight', where Henderson shows the same modal soloing skills as in his Blue Note recordings. The trio takes you on a musical journey, from the lyrically and harmonically perfect reinvention of Jerome Kern's 'All the Things You Are', to a wild free - jazz exploration of Haden's 'In the Moment' that starts as a classic bop tune and then goes into pure improvisation, and ends with a 20 - minute powerful take on Charlie Parker's 'Passport'. It's a high - intensity, focused performance. This set is a great example of the musical communication and swing between three top - notch musicians and is one of the best live trio releases in years. Recorded on 180g heavy - weight vinyl for high - quality sound, it comes in a gatefold cover and a premium protective vinyl outer sleeve. The 'Play 33 1/3 LP Series' is Universal Music Korea's first LP issue project for masterpiece albums that were never on vinyl before. The heavyweight vinyl LP is pressed in Germany, and Khiov designs the project, reforms the original artworks for the LP size, and hand - makes the sleeves. Through this series, you can enjoy great analogue sounds and beautiful artworks.

To use this vinyl album, first, make sure your turntable is clean and in good working condition. Gently remove the album from the protective outer sleeve and the gatefold cover. Place the album carefully on the turntable and lower the needle onto the starting groove. You can adjust the volume on your amplifier to your preference. When you're done listening, lift the needle gently and return it to its rest. Then, put the album back in the gatefold cover and the protective outer sleeve to keep it safe. Store the album in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat to prevent warping. Avoid touching the surface of the vinyl with your fingers as it can leave oils and dirt that may affect the sound quality.
