Description
This is a vinyl LP pressing of the iconic 'High Priestess of Soul' album, the last one Nina Simone released under Philips Records. Backed by a large band led by Hal Mooney, it features popular tracks like 'Don't You Pay Them No Mind'. There are also African American gospel and folk - related songs penned by Simone herself, such as 'Take Me to the Water' and 'Come Ye'. After this album, Nina Simone started being called 'the high priestess of soul'. An American singer, songwriter, pianist, arranger, and civil rights activist, Simone worked across various musical styles including classical, jazz, blues, folk, R&B, gospel, and pop. Her musical style artfully combined gospel, pop, and classical music, especially Johann Sebastian Bach, with expressive, jazz - like contralto singing.
To use this vinyl LP, first, make sure your record player is clean and in good working condition. Place the LP gently on the turntable, center it, and drop the needle on the starting groove. Enjoy the rich, warm sound that vinyl offers. When handling the LP, always hold it by the edges to avoid fingerprints on the playing surface, as they can cause skipping and affect sound quality. After each use, carefully place the LP back in its sleeve to protect it from dust and scratches. Store it vertically in a cool, dry place to prevent warping. If the LP gets dirty, you can use a vinyl record cleaning brush to gently remove dust. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as they can damage the vinyl.
