He reconnected with Gerald Schoenherr after 30 years, and together they spent nine days creating these tunes with an unspoken trust. The songs on 'High Lonesome' were recorded spontaneously, full of real energy. You'll hear influences from Waylon Jennings and Port Huron's Industrial pioneers. The song 'Bess McCullough' is inspired by a Port Huron figure. In 2010, David got the idea for this album during a train trip. Jessamyn Patterson agreed to create the cover art. Bob Hoag played great drums on some tracks, and Gerald Schoenherr co - produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered the album.
