Andy Bassford, a reggae legend from Hartford, Connecticut, has an amazing musical journey. After years in various bands, he was discovered by Horace Andy and made his recording debut in 1977. He then went to Jamaica, played with the Roots Radics, and joined Lloyd Parks and We The People, performing or recording with many reggae greats like Dennis Brown. Back in the US, he became the house guitarist for Studio One. Now, he performs internationally with Monty Alexander's Harlem - Kingston Express. He's won a Grammy and was honored by the Jamaica Federation of Musicians. 'The Harder They Strum' is his first solo album, paying tribute to the movie and album that drew him into Jamaican music. It remakes the famous soundtrack, with six vocal tracks turned into guitar instrumentals and others featuring vocals from New Kingston and Soul Sisters Six. Notable guests include Monty Alexander, Mikey Chung, and more. Andy aimed to honor the originals while showing his musical values and documenting his career relationships.
