This is a limited vinyl LP of a digitally remastered mono mix from a legendary jazz release. 'Coltrane Plays the Blues' is an album by the great jazz musician John Coltrane, released in 1962 on Atlantic Records. Recorded at Atlantic Studios during the 'My Favorite Things' sessions, it was put together after Coltrane left Atlantic for Impulse Records. In the 1960s, as Coltrane's fame grew, Atlantic released unissued recordings without his input or approval, just like Prestige Records before. John Coltrane, an American jazz saxophonist and composer, pioneered modal jazz and was at the forefront of free jazz. He led over fifty recording sessions and appeared on many albums as a sideman.
