Most of the songs are brand - new, original ones written, recorded, and produced by the legend himself. 'CHUCK' was recorded in different studios around St. Louis. It features Berry's long - time hometown backing group, including his children Charles Berry Jr. on guitar and Ingrid Berry on harmonica, plus Jimmy Marsala (Berry's bassist for forty years), Robert Lohr on piano, and Keith Robinson on drums. They've supported him in over two hundred residency shows at the famous Blueberry Hill club for more than two decades. Berry dedicated this record to his wife of 68 years, Themetta Berry, saying, 'My darlin' I'm growing old! I've worked on this record for a long time. Now I can hang up my shoes!'
