'Oma' is a deeply personal record inspired by his 96 - year - old Holocaust - survivor grandmother, a pianist. Drawing on the styles of Erik Satie and Nils Frahm, Grunwald calls his melodic compositions 'extended minimalism'. 'After quitting piano, it was my Oma who inspired me to return. Her wartime survival story, moving across Poland and hiding from Nazis and Russians, shows how music held her young life together. This music is a tribute to her.'
