In the mid - 70s, musician and songwriter Phil Arosa left the apartheid era in Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) and settled in the Netherlands to focus on his music. With his partner Marga, he formed the band Zimba, which played in clubs across the country for a decade. In 1983, Baleka, the only studio - recorded song from that time, was released. Although it went unnoticed initially, this track's unique blend of African rhythms, a New Wave vocal style, and an alluring mbira element is truly special. We're excited to bring this song back to life. We've invited The Comet Is Coming from London and Blackjoy (Siwo) from Paris to reinterpret it. The result? Two distinct versions of Baleka, perfect for the dancefloor.
