Description

The Specials, alongside Jerry Dammers' iconic Two Tone Records, were a defining band of the late 70s and early 80s. They blended Jamaican ska and Rocksteady with punk energy, sparking a Ska Revival. Bands like Madness, The Beat, and The Selecter followed suit. In just two years, The Specials had seven top 10 singles and two Gold albums. In June 1981, they released Jerry Dammers' 'Ghost Town', backed by Lynval Goldings' 'Why' and Terry Hall's 'Friday Night Saturday Morning'. The song was inspired by the closure of the Larcano dancehall in Coventry and the urban decay, unemployment, and racial tensions of the time - themes still relevant today. Recently voted the second greatest UK single ever by Alexis Petridis in The Guardian, 'Ghost Town' hit Number One in the UK charts and stayed there for three weeks, becoming a 1981 best - seller and a UK classic. This 40th Anniversary Edition was mastered and cut at half - speed by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios using original production tapes for top - notch audio. It comes in a new 3mm 7' spined sleeve with the original iconic artwork and a 2Tone 40th Anniversary Bellyband.

To use this 40th Anniversary Edition of 'Ghost Town', simply place the vinyl record on your turntable and gently drop the needle onto the groove. Make sure your turntable is set to the correct speed for optimal sound. When handling the record, always hold it by the edges to avoid fingerprints and scratches. After each use, put the record back in its sleeve to protect it from dust and damage. Store the record in a cool, dry place, standing upright on a shelf. If the record gets dirty, you can use a soft, anti - static record brush to clean it. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials as they can damage the vinyl.
