Description

This is a double vinyl LP pressing and a live archive release. On October 1, 1969, in Augusta, GA, it was a homecoming for James Brown. The smoking performance of him and his band at the city's Bell Auditorium was taped, aiming to make an album of the show as the cornerstone of his return to roots. 'Live at Home With His Bad Self' was set as a profitable holiday release. But JB and the band split up. Soul Brother #1 brought in a new, young band with Bootsy Collins. Within weeks, they recorded the funk anthem 'Sex Machine'. With the single soaring up the charts and no album to promote, JB canceled the planned Live at Home album. Instead, he focused on the 'Sex Machine' album, a part - live 2LP set with a part of the Augusta show. Now, finally, as James Brown intended, the full show with his famous '60s band is here. 'Live at Home With His Bad Self' arrives on its 50th anniversary, newly mixed with seven unreleased performances, including two actual live instrumentals, 'Lowdown Popcorn' and 'Spinning Wheel', which were studio recordings with fake applause on the original LP. The package includes an essay by former James Brown tour manager and publicist Alan Leeds, a Grammy - winner and co - producer of the album.

To enjoy this double vinyl LP, simply place it on your record player. Make sure your record player is clean and in good working condition. When handling the vinyl, hold it by the edges to avoid fingerprints and scratches. After each use, put the vinyl back in its sleeve to protect it. Keep the LP in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Don't stack heavy objects on it. The included essay by Alan Leeds is a great read, so take your time to soak in the stories behind the music.
