With over 35 million copies sold worldwide and 7 million shipped in the US alone, it's one of the best - selling albums ever. It spawned four Top Ten singles on the Billboard Hot 100, including a number - one hit. The music combines R&B, pop, rock, and new jack swing, aiming to reach a younger urban audience with producer Teddy Riley's input. Jackson wrote all but two tracks. It got multiple Grammy nominations and won one for Best Engineered Album, receiving both commercial success and critical acclaim.
