This is a limited edition 2 x LP set pressed on black vinyl. It's the 50th anniversary edition playing at 45rpm, a double LP. Cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering and with a new stereo mix by Bob Clearmountain, overseen by Robbie Robertson. When The Band released their self - titled second album on September 22, 1969, the reclusive group was still mysterious. Composed of four Canadians and one American, they wore 19th - century preacher outfits and sang rustic songs about America and the South. The Band members Garth Hudson, Levon Helm, Richard Manuel, Rick Danko, and Robbie Robertson were an enigma. Their 'Brown Album' solidified their status with classic songs like 'The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down', 'Up On Cripple Creek', and 'Rag Mama Rag'.
