In 1977, at the peak of Italian horror cinema after Dario Argento's international success with DEEP RED and SUSPIRIA, horror maestro Mario Bava released SHOCK. While Goblin did the soundtracks for Argento's works, the music for SHOCK was entrusted to Libra, who are related to Goblin through drummer Walter Martino and guitarist Carlo Pennisi. By '77, Libra had almost split up after a short association with the legendary soul/funk label Motown. But, at Bava's insistence, they found the inspiration to record the SHOCK soundtrack. The score, inspired by Goblin's blend of prog, funk, and synths, has its own distinct personality.
