Description
The fourth part of Manfred Mann's 'Radio Days' series features the well - respected first lineup of Manfred Mann's Earth Band, including Manfred Mann on keyboards, Mick Rogers on guitar and vocals, Colin Pattenden on bass, and Chris Slade on drums. Volume 4 showcases the early Earth Band material that made the band a hit in live concerts. Every track on this release is making its official debut. The band's first BBC appearance, when they were still named Manfred Mann, was on June 23, 1971, recording three tracks for Dave Lee Travis' show: 'Living Without You', 'Big Betty', and 'Mighty Quinn'. Although 'Mighty Quinn' only exists as a fragment, all three are included here. The highlights of this collection are the 'in - concert' shows in 1971 at the Paris Theatre in London and 1973 at the Golders Green Hippodrome in London, considered some of the best Earth Band performances ever recorded. Tracks like 'Ashes To The Wind', 'Black Betty', and 'Happy Being Me' were part of the 1971 session hosted by John Peel and later available on the BBC transcription disc. The band also had short BBC live sets in 1972 and 1973, and to promote their 'Messin'' album, they played several great tracks at a 1973 BBC gig. In 1973, while working on 'Solar Fire', they recorded early versions of some tracks for 'Sounds On Sunday'. The Radio Days series is 'Artist Approved', newly remastered with full artist approval. It's available as a triple LP on heavy - duty vinyl or a 2xCD.
Using this product is easy. If you got the triple LP set, just place the heavy - duty vinyl record on your turntable and play it with a suitable needle. For the 2xCD version, pop it into your CD player. When handling the vinyl, make sure your hands are clean to avoid getting dirt on the record. Store the vinyl upright in a cool, dry place to prevent warping. For the CDs, keep them in their cases when not in use to protect them from scratches. Enjoy the amazing live performances from Manfred Mann's Earth Band!
