Description
Since the 1980s, David Tibet's Current 93 has filled the air with an apocalyptic vibe. Now, 35 years later, as dark clouds gather again, Tibet teams up with the Italian group Zu in a collaboration named Zu93. Their new album, Mirror Emperor, mixed and produced by Stefano Pilia, is a return to earth, a tour through ruins. With gentle guitars, weeping cellos, rumbling bass, and soft percussion, it moves seamlessly, being grounded, subtle, yet anticipatory and foreboding. It echoes pivotal moments from the creators' catalogs, like Zu's acoustic explorations and a stripped - down Current 93 of the 90s. Massimo Pupillo sees it as the closing of a long circle, and Tibet loves it. On this album, the demiurge of our demise hides in a broken world, articulating a 'cosmic melancholy'. It's a dreamlike suite created under a murderous moon, leaving us with a final call to 'awake'.
To enjoy Mirror Emperor, simply play it on your preferred music - playing device, like a CD player, smartphone, or music streaming platform. When using digital copies, make sure your device has enough storage and a stable power source to prevent interruptions during playback. And don't forget to turn up the volume to fully experience the rich sounds of the album.
