Midnight Man

Davy Graham, an early influential figure on the 1960s British folk scene, inspired many famous fingerstyle acoustic guitar players like Bert Jansch, Paul Simon, John Martyn, and Jimmy Page. A true world - music artist, he covered folk, blues, and jazz genres and popularized DADGAD tuning. 'Midnight Man' was Davy's second solo release for Decca, showing remarkable musical growth. His playing here was more extroverted and aggressive, thanks to his increased experience. Recorded after his travels to Ibiza, through the Aegean, and to Constantinople, he was influenced by the sounds he heard and experimented with amplification. This album offers an experimental take on conventional blues and modern jazz. The instrumental 'hit' 'The Fakir' by Lalo Schifrin is a highlight, just as 'Maajun' was on his 'Folk Blues and Beyond'. It's now remastered with liner notes by David Fricke.
