Description

Alto saxophonist Lou Donaldson returned to Blue Note in 1967 after a 4 - year hiatus, starting a new phase in his long career. Back in the late 1950s to early 1960s, Sweet Papa Lou co - founded Blue Note's soul - jazz foundation with Hammond B3 organists like Jimmy Smith. He recorded great albums such as Here ‘Tis, Good Gracious!, and The Natural Soul. In 1967, on Alligator Bogaloo, he introduced a new hard - grooving sound. This was his first collaboration with organ virtuoso Lonnie Smith, featuring George Benson on guitar and Leo Morris on drums. On Mr. Shing - A - Ling, the bluesy trumpeter Blue Mitchell joined. In 1968, for the soul - jazz gem Midnight Creeper, the whole group reunited for a 6 - song set including the catchy title track, 'Love Power', 'Bag of Jewels', and 'Dapper Dan'.

To enjoy this album, you can play it on your favorite music player. Put on some comfortable headphones or turn up your speakers for a great audio experience.
