Description
Less of Everything is Es's debut full - length LP. This title can be seen as a manifesto, a demand, or a literal description of the London quartet's icy punk rock. Since their start, the tension between intent and interpretation has been key to their work. Es consists of Maria Cecilia Tedemalm (vocals), Katy Cotterell (bass), Tamsin M. Leach (drums), and Flora Watters (keyboards). Their 2016 debut EP, Object Relations, on La Vida Es Un Mus, was hailed as'mutant synth - punk for our dystopian present'. They've become a big name in London's underground DIY music scene and toured the UK with the Thurston Moore Group in 2017. In 2019, after members were split between Glasgow and London, Es recorded Less of Everything with Lindsay Corstorphine in Tottenham. The chemistry between Cotterell's bass and Watters's keyboard is the soul of this LP, blending sub - zero melodies, gothic anarcho - punk vibes, and an unidentifiable aquatic element. Paired with Murray Leach's precise drumming, it creates a unique and recognizable sound. Es knows how to achieve minimalism without losing aggression. Tedemalm's vocal style, full of emotion and drama, adds to the LP's intensity and complexity. This 180 - gram, transparent vinyl comes in an edition of 500.
