Interlude

Jamie Cullum's seventh album, Interlude, hit the UK in 2014 and the US in 2015. It takes the singer - pianist back to his jazz roots. No more electronics or original material here. Cullum performs live with a jazz orchestra, singing well - known yet fresh standards. He broadens the song collection to include 'Lovesick Blues' by Hank Williams and 'Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood' by the Animals, with a style inspired by Ray Charles. He growls, croons, pounds, and tinkles the piano, giving the orchestra space to shine while keeping improvisation in check. Most songs are 3 - 4 minutes long, placing this album towards the pop side of the jazz spectrum.
