High Tide

Named High Tide after the sudden surge of the LA River basin during an epic and rare rainfall, this cosmic slop funk jam was crafted by Devin Flynn (Pixeltan) and Eddie Ruscha (Secret Circuit), two Angelenos deeply connected to local water sources. While in an Atwater Village bodega, they planned to make a rhythmic piece so appealing that it would stun listeners with a wobbly Jah Wobble bass and a toy - drum - machine - style backbeat. They added enough electronic scuzz, believing the public would love it. When DFA learned of it, the project was green - lit. The track was held for at least five years before release to ensure the world was ready. The remixes are by Eddie as Secret Circuit and Dr. Dunks (Eric Duncan), an Angeleno at heart. Devin and Eric had a childhood bond. Devin, an animator, musician, and teacher, has worked on notable projects and released music with Pixeltan on DFA. Eddie, a DFA veteran, has remixed many artists and released on multiple labels.
