Davy Graham was a major influence on the 1960s British folk scene. He inspired big - name fingerstyle acoustic guitarists like Bert Jansch, Paul Simon, John Martyn, and Jimmy Page. A true world music artist, he covered folk, blues, and jazz. He also made the DADGAD tuning well - known, which many acoustic guitarists later adopted. Released in 1969, 'Hat' features fourteen selections that aim to please blues, folk fans, and those new to modern music. Recorded with double bassist Danny Thompson of Pentangle, who also worked with Richard Thompson and John Martyn, the album includes classical pieces, two Muddy Waters' numbers (written by Willie Dixon), two by Paul Simon, and some of Davy's favorite pop and jazz tunes of the time. It's been remastered with liner notes by David Fricke.
