Ethiopian Knights

This is a limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing of the jazz - funk album Ethiopian Knights. In August 1971, over two days, Donald Byrd gathered a powerful band at A&M Studios in Los Angeles. This recording marked his shift from a top - notch hard bop trumpeter to an R&B/funk fusion pioneer. The album has just three tracks: the long funk pieces 'The Emperor' and 'The Little Rasti', with 'Jamie' in between. It came before his Mizell Bros - produced masterpiece Black Byrd. Stand - out musicians like tenor saxophonist Harold Land, vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson, keyboardists Joe Sample and Bill Henderson III, guitarists Don Peake, Greg Poree, and David T. Walker, bassist Wilton Felder, drummer Ed Greene, and percussionist Bobbye Porter Hall all contributed to this amazing album.
