Distant Populations

Distant Populations is the fourth full - length album of Quicksand. It follows Interiors relatively quickly, with Interiors coming 22 years after its predecessor, 1995's Manic Compression. Interiors was critically praised and re - established the band as a powerful and contemporary force. Distant Populations has a punchier, faster sound. Its 11 concise songs are like well - carved sonic gems, with not a single wasted note. From the first listen, its raw power and gripping lyrics shine through, marking a big step up for the band. After Interiors' release, the band toured globally and rebuilt their chemistry. To make this album, frontman/guitarist Walter Schreifels, bassist Sergio Vega, and drummer Alan Cage recorded soundchecks, improvisations, and rehearsals, then edited to the most exciting parts. The title Distant Populations might have an irony as the songs haven't been played live, but the band hopes to perform soon.
