The Gun Club was founded by Jeffrey Lee Pierce, the former head of the Blondie fan - club in Los Angeles. Brian Tristan joined him and later became Kid Congo Powers during his time with The Cramps. In 1982, the band signed with Blondie guitarist Chris Stein’s Animal Records and moved to New York temporarily to record 'Miami' in the same year. Produced by Stein, this album features Debbie Harry on backup vocals for some tracks. Frontman and slide player Jeffrey Lee Pierce and his band aimed for a higher, more desolate sound and were extremely energetic.
