Cutheart is a rare vinyl LP recording. It features the unique music of Tolley & Dara, an experimental duo. David Tolley, the bassist of The Brian Brown Quintet and collaborator with Daevid Allen, teams up with percussionist Dure Dara. Their music held a crucial yet niche position in the Australian music scene from the late 1970s to the early 1980s. Recorded from live shows in spring 1979 at the Universal Theatre Melbourne, the album is a collection of eight improvised pieces. Using analogue synthesizers and a wide range of percussion, they crafted an otherworldly soundscape with trance - like scatting and strange muttering. Similar to Annette Peacock and Paul Bley, Tolley explores the outer limits of improvised electronic music here. This is a pioneering recording from the Australian experimental underground.
