The Word is a hidden gem of 1980s Austrian disco music. As soon as you drop the needle on this record, you'll find the sound strangely familiar. The amazing 'Lobster' shares the same analog, slow - paced charm as Zenit's classic 'Waiting' from Edition Hawara's first release. The other three unique, proto - electronic songs, 'Easy', 'All My Life', and 'The Word', are equally captivating. The vocals are by Linda Sharrock, who collaborated with Karl 'Charly' Ratzer and Peter Ponger, brother of Falco's producer. This collaboration's result is truly legendary. How this sound emerged in Vienna in 1984 remains a mystery, but it was clearly a magical moment in the studio. Just like lobsters are rare in landlocked Vienna, records like this are hard to find. All four tracks are from the band's 1983 - 1984 debut and second EPs, which are now out of print and expensive second - hand.
